Sahar became Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust award winner in late 2020.
This is a very prestigious award, as QEST are a charity set up by the Royal Warrant Holders, who give awards to craftspeople in the UK who produce high quality work, and show a promising and growing business.
Marylebone Journal ran a front cover and 7 page feature on Sahar, in 2019. This included the photographer insisting on putting hats on random ladies in the street, which was fun.

INTERVIEW | MMP TV meets Sahar Freemantle – one of London’s most unique Milliners
This Elephant headpiece got quite a lot of attention as it was worn by Ellie Goulding and Princess Eugenie, and also exhibited at the V&A. It was designed for the Muzungo Sisters, using their beautiful vintage Indian fabric. There was more press than this but this is an example.
Transmutation was the word that came to mind the first time I saw milliner Sahar Freemantle’s Magpie inspired Ugly Lovely collection. A narrative of claws, animal horns, feathers, shredded snake skin, fossilized beetles, dried butterflies, bird skulls, etc, gave me the impression that if I wore one of her ingenious creations, I could morph into this intelligent bird. The Magpie is the only non-mammal species to have the ability of self recognition in a mirror test. And they are are also the ultimate recycler known for thieving and collecting found objects for their nests.
